selfSCAPE
selfSCAPE, created January - April, displayed May - December 2014
selfSCAPE takes its inspiration from Henri Matisse ‘The Cut-Outs’ showing at the Tate Modern. Working with the theme of self-portraiture on a grand scale the Redstarts created ten-foot high drawings, these became embellished with additional designs.
Experimenting with light and colour, the Redstarts collaborated to create a group collage, filling the gallery wall.
Chris Marshall and Cash Aspeek selected individual works created by the Redstarts and transposed these onto laser cut plywood. The cut pieces were weatherproofed; colour was introduced using theatrical lighting gels. The work was sited on the roof or APT studios, creating giant silhouette self portraits viewable from a distance.
