Art Makes People Powerful! As part of the DeptfordX Contemporary Arts Festival, Redstart Arts were asked to participate in the Bob and Roberta Smith installation, ‘Art Makes People Powerful!’. Participating in an ‘art flash mob’, Deptford based artists were asked to work on individual letters to spell out the phrase ‘Art Makes People Powerful!’ in a 5 minute timeframe. Wild Things Jukeboxes Stay Up Late commissioned Redstart Arts to create two rhino head sculptures in September 2013. The commission will contribute to the Brighton based charity's touring jukebox programme. Drawing upon themes and ideas related to musical culture, we referenced punk rock and vinyl in the design of the sculptures. A new face in the Redstart Team Nishana Sukul joined Redstart Arts to assist Cash as Project Coordinator in September. Nish, as she is best known, has been working in arts education and outreach since completing a MA in History of Art in 2012. She is thrilled to be part of Redstart Arts and looking forward to working with Cash and the Redstarts on future projects.
