Celebration Day at the Horniman Museum
Many participants of the Doorstep project were able to be part of a wonderful Celebration day at the Horniman Museum.
We all gathered in the Pavilion, a wonderful airy glass sided building at the north end of the Horniman Gardens. The Redstarts (some new ones too) and family members were able to meet the embroiderers and exchange thoughts, experiences and ideas about the project that started in November 2020 with the support of Arts Council England.
It was quite an emotional day as it declared the end of the project.
The Net Curtain has been invited to enter the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2021 by Royal Academician, Mali Morris who first saw the Net Curtain in APT Gallery where we were laying it all out getting it ready to sew on the embroidery discs.
Laying out and pinning the embroidered discs onto the Net Curtain
Hanging up for the first time.
